Research leadership
Supervised research programs
Two completed PhD programs that form part of the technical foundation for Alejandro's work in uncertainty-aware autonomy and multimodal perception.
The projects below were supervised in my role as an academic research lead. Implementations are credited to and hosted by the primary developers; my contribution focused on scientific direction, model and representation design, validation strategy and publication strategy.

Uncertainty-aware perception, prediction and planning
This program combined uncertainty-aware learning and neuro-symbolic modeling for perception, forecasting and control in autonomous systems.
Selected systems
- CLEAR-Command: uncertainty-aware command and control for autonomous systems.
- KRPS: structured planning and reasoning integrating perception with symbolic decision-making.
- NeSyMoF: neuro-symbolic motion forecasting with explicit symbolic structure.
My role: scientific supervision, research direction, model design and publication strategy.
Thomas Kreutz · PhD 2022–2025
LiDAR- and IMU-based human-centric scene understanding
This program investigated LiDAR-first perception, multimodal embeddings and spatio-temporal modeling for activity understanding and crowd simulation.
Selected systems
- UMOSMOTS: unsupervised 4D LiDAR moving-object segmentation using multivariate occupancy time series.
- Crowd Orchestration Simulator: spatio-temporal modeling and orchestration of crowd dynamics.
- DeSPITE: deep skeleton, point-cloud, IMU and text embeddings for human-activity understanding.
My role: scientific supervision, conceptual framing, representation design and coordination with publication and collaboration partners.
